FLOW between creatives and account executives

FLOW: Focus, Listen & Open oneself Wholeheartedly
When you are in FLOW as a creative with your sales and management team, amazing things can happen. This state of being can lead to an effortless operation providing quality creative that also increases sales. FLOW is built on respect, trust, communication, passion & confidence. These qualities need to be mutual.

To truly listen you need to focus. To do anything with what you are listening to, you need to be open wholeheartedly to the ideas and possibilities beyond what is in your own mind.

Reasons why we don’t FLOW

We are all personally accountable for our own part of the FLOW. We cannot control another person’s ability or thoughts. We also cannot blame the organization we are in for the problem. You can do your best and be accountable for your own state of mind.

Typical excuses for lack of FLOW are; I’m too busy, I don’t care, I’m not creative, I don’t know how to communicate with that person, I’m unhappy with my job, I’m bored, frustrated, selfish, lazy, uncertain and so on.

How to increase FLOW (the short list):

Identify your own blocks. What is holding you back? What are you unhappy about? Be honest with yourself.

Share things that inspire you with others. It doesn’t have to relate to your organization, it can be anything.

Challenge the way things work in your office. Is a process outdated or not working anymore? Have a suggestion on how to change it before you complain about it not working.

Take lots of notes! Inspiration can come from anywhere and anyone.

Talk to a person in your office that you normally would not about a project or idea.

Respect each position in your organization. All the jobs and duties have relevance and if you don’t know what someone does, ask them! Respectfully ask them about what they do and connect.

Celebrate successes, yours and others
